The number of women to that of men leading successful organizations is small. However, the few women in such positions have not disappointed. Instead, they have owned up their respective roles and made a name for themselves proving that women can be trusted with influential positions. Maggie Gill is one of these women. She is well-known as the chief executive officer of Memorial Health.
Holding a leadership position, especially in top entities, requires intelligence or good brains. Maggie Gill has proven to be chalk full of such attributes. She is well-learned and boasts of not only a bachelor’s degree but also an MBA from Florida State University and Saint Leo University in Florida respectively. She also boasts of training in strategic thinking and management from the Wharton School.
Before joining the Memorial University Medical Center in 2004 as the vice president of managed care/finance, Gill had served Tenet South Florida Health System as the CFO for five years. While working for Tenet South Florida Health System, she was accorded the Tenet Outstanding Chief Financial Officer (CFO) award thrice. Maggie also worked at various entities while still serving her tenure at Tenet. Some of these included North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah as well as Coral Gables Hospital in Coral Gables.
Since joining the Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in 2004, Gill has experienced a success career. She rose from being a vice president of finance /managed care in 2005 to chief operating officer. Later in 2011, Gill was appointed as the president as well as chief executive officer of Memorial Health.
As the CEO of Memorial Health, Maggie Gill offers leadership for all senior vice presidents, physician leaders and senior vice presidents at the Memorial University Medical Center. Additionally, she is directly involved and responsible for many operations. Some of these operations include government relations, physician relations, orthopedic and neuroscience programs, internal audit, and the Heart & Vascular Institute. Trauma services, facilities management, financial assistance, Memorial Health University Physicians, facilities management, corporate communications and perioperative services are also Gill’s responsibilities.
Recently, Maggie Gill’s name featured among the 135 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know in 2016. Becker’s Hospital Review compiled the list. Additionally, her team was awarded seven awards during The Georgia Medical Society’s 16th Annual Health Care Heroes Awards held in November 2016. The awards aimed at recognizing individuals who had devoted their careers to improving the well-being and health of the entire community.
